Port De Pollença Beach: the Blue Flag Beach that Has it All

If you’re looking for the perfect spot for your next vacation in Mallorca, Port de Pollença beach is, without a doubt, one of the stops you must make.

It’s in the north of the island, just ten minutes from the charming old town of Pollença —2 km to the south— and, as we mentioned in the title, it boasts a Blue Flag and 1.5 km in length. More points in its favor? It’s surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana and the rugged hills of Cap de Formentor: a natural landscape that is simply spectacular.

Yes, surely you’re already intrigued and want to come see it… but let us tell you even more about it.

Port de Pollença beach is an oasis for all tastes

The long strip of sand at Port de Pollença beach curves gently around the port and is divided into several sections, so you can choose the one that suits you best.

Its sand is golden and the water… exceptionally calm! Of such an intense blue that, at times, it seems green.

Moreover, it has environments for all tastes: there are areas dedicated to water sports, others more relaxed for sunbathing, and many beach bars, in case you need to have a snack in the shade.

The backbone of the beach is the huge paved promenade, where, in addition to walking, you can enjoy a lot of shops and a tempting array of restaurants to try dishes like the typical tumbet, Mallorcan arròs brut, and delicious cured meats like sobrassada and botifarró.

The beach has services galore

Everyone comes back to Platja del Port de Pollença, it’s a popular beach among families, young people, and seniors.

The most valued aspect of the beach is its easy access and the large number of services; it has certified lifeguards, sun lounger and umbrella rentals, showers, foot washers, restrooms, and play areas like the “Juego del Bote” —a wooden park— for the little ones.

Additionally, the beach is fully accessible for wheelchairs and people with reduced mobility thanks to the paved promenade, wooden walkways, amphibious chairs, and support staff.

As for the crowds, we won’t lie to you: Port de Pollença beach is very busy in summer, but its spaciousness ensures room for everyone. The areas close to the port and the promenade attract more families, and if you walk towards the edges —especially towards the pine trees— the atmosphere becomes more intimate and peaceful.

How to get to Port de Pollença beach

From Pollença it will take about 10 minutes by car, from Alcudia about 15 or 20 minutes, and from Palma about 45 minutes via the Ma-13 highway. Parking here isn’t too complicated: you can leave your vehicle for free next to the port or use the large parking lot —paid— located next to the tourist office.

If you prefer to get here by public transport, line 301 connects Palma with Port de Pollença —about 90 minutes— and line 352 brings you from Alcudia. Additionally, a regular service connects the old town of Pollença with the port with up to twenty-four trips on weekdays and eight on weekends and holidays.

Already in the area? Encourage yourself to pedal: there’s a network of bike lanes and routes —”Rutas de la biodiversidad”— that connects Alcudia, Muro beach, and Pollença and crosses some of the most impressive landscapes in the municipality.

And if you’re looking for door-to-door convenience, taxis —white with a blue stripe and meter— are the quickest and most comfortable option.

Water activities at Port de Pollença beach

There’s no room for boredom here. You can rent SUP boards, jet skis, kayaks, water skis, or sign up for a banana boat ride. You can also go sailing or join a dolphin watching tour and explore the impressive Cap de Formentor. And when the wind blows, the bay is a paradise for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Another essential plan if you’re an aquatic being is to practice scuba diving; there are several local schools that organize day and night dives. Do you prefer something calmer? Hop on a catamaran at the port and go snorkeling in crystal clear waters: it won’t disappoint!
