Sa Pedruscada in Capdepera is one of those coves you either know because you’re from the area or you’ll probably overlook it. It doesn’t usually appear in tourist spots, news, covers, or conventional guides, but we’re going to tell you so much about it that we’re sure we can convince you to come visit and, of course, be pleasantly surprised!

Location and How to Get to Sa Pedruscada from Capdepera

Cala Sa Pedruscada is located in the municipality of Capdepera — in northeastern Mallorca — just two kilometers from Cala Ratjada, a much better-known tourist hub more frequented by travelers than Capdepera’s own center.

The sandy area itself is a small, quiet enclave that is not difficult to access. If you come by car from Capdepera, follow the signs to the Son Moll urbanization and then to Sa Pedruscada; you’ll be able to park in the surrounding streets.

Another option is to park in Son Moll or in the center of Cala Ratjada and walk over. In fact, walking is one of the best ways to get to know the area. From the Son Moll beach area heading south, Sa Pedruscada is about 600 or 700 meters on foot, and less than 2 km from Cala Ratjada.

Do you prefer public transport? The bus stop is right at the beach entrance, and line 423, which runs from Sa Font de Sa Cala to Cala Ratjada and vice versa, passes through it.

Characteristics of Sa Pedruscada: Sand, Water, and Seabed

We won’t lie to you… Sa Pedruscada is small. It’s triangular in shape and about 20 meters long.

Aren’t you wondering why it’s called that? It owes its name to the stones and pebbles that form this stretch of coastline, as it couldn’t be otherwise. And something not implied in its name is the water, which is clean and crystal clear with rocky bottoms. Don’t expect great depths, but do expect plenty of marine life among its rocks.

What Makes Cala Sa Pedruscada Special?

What makes Sa Pedruscada unique are the old fishermen’s houses, the small boats that surround it, the natural rock pools, and the low crowds. The beachfront consists of old ground-floor houses and a small jetty on the right side that sometimes serves as a pier.

And if you don’t want to come here to sunbathe, come in the morning — very early — and admire its surroundings, or in the late afternoon and enjoy watching the sun set and change the tones — increasingly warmer — of the stones and the sea.

Sa Pedruscada Services

It’s no surprise that Sa Pedruscada completely lacks services, which is perhaps why few people choose it for their holidays in Mallorca. However, if you bring water and something to snack on, you can spend the afternoon, morning, or entire day here and be completely at peace.

There are no bars, beach bars, showers, bins, lifeguards, or establishments for renting water sports equipment, umbrellas, or sun loungers. Nothing at all.

And this, far from being a problem, is part of its charm. The reward is a cove practically without crowds, with the water and sand almost entirely to yourself.

What Can You Do in Sa Pedruscada?

Snorkeling is undoubtedly the star activity. The shallow rocky bottoms are ideal for surface diving, and the clarity of the water will allow you to perfectly see the life hidden among the rocks.

Coastal hiking is another excellent option, because Sa Pedruscada is part of the route between Son Moll and Sa Font de Sa Cala, an itinerary that covers small coves, old summer mansions, and colorful fishermen’s houses. If we encouraged you to walk earlier, there’s a reason.

And if you have your own boat or are thinking of renting one, the cove’s platform can perfectly serve to launch a small boat. The nearest nautical port is Club Nàutic Cala Ratjada, one nautical mile away.

How to Complete Your Day Trip to Cala Sa Pedruscada

Sa Pedruscada is perfect if you’re planning a tour of northwestern Mallorca. The best thing to do is take advantage of everything there is to see in Capdepera: the Capdepera Castle, a 14th-century medieval fortress with spectacular views, and also the Capdepera Lighthouse, the highest observation point in the area from where Menorca can be seen on clear days.

Another must-see is a visit to Sa Font de Sa Cala, another of Capdepera’s beaches that is worth visiting and, in this case, does have services such as showers, toilets, sunbed and umbrella rentals, and even a lifeguard station.

And if you want to continue the coastal route, you can’t skip Cala Agulla or Cala Mesquida.

When it’s time for lunch, don’t miss the opportunity to try the typical Mallorcan food: a good tumbet or tombet, an arròs brut, fresh Mallorcan-style fish, or the typical sobrasada.
