What to see in Búger and what makes it special

Búger is one of the smallest municipalities in Mallorca. It is in the heart of the Raiguer region, surrounded by almond and carob trees, and windmills that remind us that its past was entirely agricultural.

You can start getting to know it from the Plaça de la Constitució, the heart of the town, where they set up a weekly market with local products on Saturday mornings and a great atmosphere in which everyone talks and greets each other.

A couple of steps away you have the Iglesia de Sant Pere, the construction that attracts all eyes and dates from the 16th century.

Spread your gaze around the corners and you will find the centuries-old stone crosses embedded in the facades or in the old limits of the town, such as that of Santo Cristo or Cas Mestre.

Búger in Mallorca also boasts windmills: the Molinar de Búger aligns several towers on the eastern hill and provides the most recognizable postcard of the municipality. At sunset, with the sky orange, it is a mandatory stop to take some photos.

In addition to its visible heritage, Búger has other details that make it unique. For example, traditional crafts still survive here: artisan pieces such as blown glass bells, wooden spoons, or cowbells are made in the town.

If you feel like stretching your legs, the town hall proposes urban and rural itineraries that leave from the square and link paths between farms, bridges, and pine forests.

Nature and routes in Mallorca near Búger

If anything defines Búger in Mallorca, it is its absolute nature and tranquility.

The town is surrounded by farmland, fruit trees, windmills, and dirt roads that you can travel practically alone.

From certain points of the town you can see the silhouette of the Bay of Alcúdia in the distance and, on clear days, even the peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana silhouetted on the horizon.

In almond blossom season—late winter—the surroundings are covered with a white-pink blanket of flowers that turns any walk or car ride into a visual spectacle. And, if you come in summer, the clear nights will allow you to see an incredible starry sky thanks to the low light pollution in the area.

Several simple routes start from the town that will allow you to explore the surroundings by bike. We recommend the route towards Campanet, a place known for the impressive Campanet Caves, which you can enjoy in the form of a circular itinerary. Another popular excursion is to go towards Sa Pobla and the s’Albufera Natural Park, the best place on the island to observe birds in the wetlands.

And if you prefer to walk, there are multiple options for walks and small hikes. From Búger you can take a rural route to the hermitage of Sant Miquel, a pleasant walk between fields, or to the Fonts Ufanes, curious natural springs that sprout from the ground intermittently after rains.

Another fantastic excursion is to climb the Puig de Santa Magdalena, a hill in the nearby Inca district. You can drive in 10 minutes to its base and then ascend on foot along a short path to the top, where a hermitage and a viewpoint with 360° views of the island await you.

In short, Búger in Mallorca is an excellent starting point for routes of all kinds.
