Cova de Cornavaques
The Cova de Cornavaques, nestled between the majestic Cala Sant Vicenç and the imposing Serra de Cornavaques, is a hidden treasure on the island of Mallorca. Its impressive stalagmitic formations, together with the solidified roots hanging from the ceiling, are silent witnesses to the passage of time and the variations in the water level over the years.
Considered one of the most amazing natural wonders of Mallorca, this cave offers an unparalleled spectacle. Its internal galleries are home to a variety of fascinating formations, some of which are unique to this island. The ceilings and walls of the cave leave visitors stunned, offering them a visual experience they will never forget.
Despite its beauty, access to this underground wonder is by no means easy. The entrance, almost hidden in the thick undergrowth, requires an arduous journey by foot and, in some sections, even climbing. However, every effort is worth it as you enter this unique and surprising underground world.
To reach the cave, you can leave your car on the road to Cala Sant Vicenç at about 1 kilometre away, and then follow a path that crosses several farms until you reach the Can Nicolau barriers. At this point, the path continues along the streambed, with alternatives for those who prefer a more demanding route or a more accessible one.
Once inside the cave, visitors face a variety of obstacles, from small jumps to rope descents, which eventually lead to the impressive galleries full of unique geological formations. The most outstanding of all is the biggest gallery, where the huge roots hanging from the ceiling capture the attention of everyone present.
Despite time constraints, explorers can nevertheless enjoy the wonders this cave has to offer, from stalagmite flows to natural slides. Every corner of the Cova de Cornavaques is an invitation to exploration and a showcase of the amazing power of nature.

Sa Cova Tancada
This excursion of approximately 3 kilometres and medium difficulty takes us to Sa Cova Tancada, a large cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Starting from the refuge in Es Coll Baix in Alcudia, the hike crosses the mountainous area between the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia, offering many well-marked trails. Other outstanding excursions in the area are the ascent to the Talaia d’Alcúdia and the route to the Platja des Coll Baix.
Most of the route is easy to follow, although there is a steep slope at the end, which is not recommended for people suffering from vertigo, as it even requires climbing in some sections. It is advisable to carry a torch or headlamp to explore the cave. The path starts out wide, but after about 30 minutes of ascent, it narrows as it descends into the cave.
To find the access, drive towards La Victoria until you reach a crossroads where the Bodega del Sol is located, and then a signpost indicating the beginning of the hike. You can park the car around that area and start walking along a path to the right, passing over a chain. The zigzagging ascent becomes gentler further on. The descent has some handrails and steps, therefore caution is recommended.
Sa Cova Tancada is located about 10 metres above sea level, concretely at Cabo de Menorca, and offers impressive limestone formations. The route through the cave is about 250 metres long, passing through several galleries, some of which are more than 10 metres high. Although it does not present any particular technical difficulty, the cave is not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo or claustrophobia.
The trail offers panoramic views of the Bay of Alcudia as it passes through a pine forest.
It is advisable to wear suitable footwear, carry a torch and do the excursion in a groups, avoiding bringing children under 12 years of age. In summer it is possible to swim in front of the cave, although the rocky nature of the area and the difficulty to access the sea must be taken into account.

Cova de Sa Campana
The impressive Cova de Sa Campana located in the municipality of Escorca, is a speleological wonder with almost 400 metres of depth. Its majestic galleries house a diversity of speleothems, lava flows, gourgs and dark wells that are characterised by their uniqueness and beauty. It is one of the deepest and most extensive caves on the island, ranking second on the list of top explorations to do in Mallorca.
Access involves leaving the car several kilometres before reaching Sa Calobra, and setting off a journey through the Serra de Tramuntana over the impressive Torrent de Pareis, until you reach the entrance.
Once inside, you will be amazed by the dimensions of the cave, descending to the Sala dels Gorgs, located at a depth of almost 200 metres, with its karst formations.
The upper part communicates with Sala Polida, and at the end of the gallery we find Sala del Rascler, a 38-metre deep pit. In order to descend, the rope must be anchored at the top by means of two spigots, and during the descent there are two more fractions until reaching its base, which is rounded and covered with rocks and blocks.
Descending back to the Sala dels Blocs we find the access to the Pous del Fang, a series of wells with different depths. And we could go on and on naming routes, as the cave’s extension is almost impossible to calculate.
The cave has 12 galleries which are accessed via several steps that lead to the upper part of the Sala Campament. There is a smaller room at its base, dominated by a barrier of stalagmitic lava flows. The enormous Sala Gràcia (150 x 100m) is immersed in darkness, limiting the view of the surroundings.
As we descend through the muddy and slippery steps, we are presented with two paths to choose from. To the right is the narrow and not very recommendable passageway, Galería 73, while to the left, after some ledges, we find the narrow entrance that leads to the Ramp dels Tres. We descend along this narrow path to the beginning of the ramp, ending in front of the Sala Bonica. Between those ascending blocks, we find the entrance to Galería 73.
Continuing from the Sala Bonica, we enter the Rampa del Fang, where we find the access to the Sala dels Gorgs, a tiny cavity with a fluctuating ceiling. Descending through a mudflow we reach an imposing platform where we can admire the enormous walls and rock formations, as well as the water that flows timidly towards a well that serves as a sinkhole, known as Vía Francesc Pierre, which connects with the Sala dels Blocs. The latter, with a gradient of more than 40 degrees, is dotted with blocks and stones and with the constant dripping of water filtering in from the outside throughout the year.

The cave continues to reveal new cavities, such as lago Minguillón or sala GAME, which are perfect for underwater exploration. For speleology lovers, this cave is highly recommended, although its complexity requires the hiring of a guide such as those offered by the companies Explora Mallorca or Món Aventura. Coves de Campanet
The Coves de Campanet, although modest in comparison with other caves in Mallorca, stand out for their exuberant natural surroundings. With an approximate surface area of 3,200 m² and a route of about 400 metres, the visit takes about 40 minutes. Despite its beauty, it is not crowded, which makes it an ideal proposal for families, always surprising for the little ones.
The route begins with a short artificial access tunnel leading to Sala de la Palmera, from where the main galleries of the cave start. It is recommended to always follow the left-hand path for a complete circular route, ensuring an easy return to the starting point.
This is followed by Sala del Lago and Sala Romántica, the latter being the largest with a length of more than 50 metres and a ceiling height of almost 10 metres, which is truly spectacular. Throughout the entire route an exuberant and diverse ornamentation can be observed, sculpted by water over millions of years with the fineness and colour of the stalactites and stalagmites standing out.
There is a particular scientific interest in these caves due to the presence of a species of carnivorous blind beetle called Henrotius Jordai, which lives in the pools of water. In addition, fossil remains of the extinct species Myotragus Balearicus have been found , which was an endemic species of goat that disappeared more than 4,000 years ago. A skeletal reproduction of this species can be seen in the Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences in Sóller.
Outside the caves, there is a restaurant with a spectacular viewpoint with a terrace surrounded by flowers and trees. To visit the caves, it is necessary to book one of the guided tours through their website, with prices ranging from 9 euros for children to 17 euros for general admission, including the audio guide option.
At Ideal Property Mallorca, we recommend you to visit this cave at least once in your life. Don’t worry about finding an accommodation since we take care of it, visit our website and find the option that best suits your needs.

For about an hour, you will travel through 1,200 metres of galleries, each one more impressive than the one before it. From the imposing Mont Nevat, which owes its white colour to the calcium carbonate that filters rain through the rocks, to the fascinating formation known as La Bandera, a canvas-like formation that combines different colours due to the filtration of different minerals.
And if that’s not enough, at the end of the tour you’ll enjoy an aural delight with a classical music concert in a unique amphitheatre, followed by the dazzling light show known as “Amanecer al llac”. Don’t miss the opportunity to complete your experience with a relaxing boat trip on Llac Martel!

Cova des Coloms
Enjoy one of the most exciting adventures in Mallorca by exploring the interior of one of the most spectacular underwater caves in Mallorca: Cova des Coloms, near Cala Romántica, in Manacor.
Inside, you will find many spacious galleries filled with stalactites and stalagmites, which create an atmosphere of surprise and admiration for nature’s magnificence. This cave is an authentic natural cathedral filled with crystalline waters that will immerse you in a world of wonders.
Due to the large number, variety and size of its formations Sa Cova des Coloms is known as one of the most impressive stalactite caves in Mallorca. These include stalactites, stalagmites and columns, formed over thousands of years by natural processes and chemical reactions.
Wrapped in legends and folk tales, the Cova des Coloms has been nicknamed the “Pirate’s Cave of Mallorca”, suggesting old stories of smugglers and pirates hiding treasure in its bowels. However, it is important to note that these are only rumours, and that the nearby cave, called Cova des Pirata, is often confused with it.
Once on the beach, we will prepare ourselves to start the marine speleology. The entrance to the cave is about 300 metres from the shore, so we will swim to it without the need to dive. Once inside, you will discover all its charms, from its narrow tunnels to its impressive rock formations. It is essential to do this excursion with experts who know the way to follow to ensure a safe and memorable experience.
In addition to exploring the stalactites and stalagmites, we recommend diving into the underground lakes with torches to enjoy the unique experience of swimming in subterranean waters.
Although it is not technically a sea cave, but a sea inlet formed by the erosion of the sea that flooded a pre-existing cave, Cova des Coloms is still a spectacle not to be missed on your visit to Mallorca. For an expert guided tour, we recommend you book with our partners at Mon de Aventura.
And don’t worry about finding the perfect accommodation, we’ll take care of it so that all you have to do is enjoy yourself. Visit our website and choose from a variety of options for an unforgettable holiday in Mallorca.
