The <\/span>ecotax on the Balearic Islands <\/b>has been in effect since 2016. Its official name is the Sustainable Tourism Tax and it is applied on the four main islands: Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.<\/span><\/p>

The regulation stipulates that <\/span>all guests at hotel establishments who are over the age of 16<\/b> must pay the tax. These establishments are responsible for collecting it and then transferring it to the relevant authorities.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The applicable costs will <\/span>vary according to the number of guests, the accommodation category and the length of the stay.<\/b> For example:<\/span><\/p>

– For stays in the low season, only 75% of the tax is applied.<\/p>

– From the ninth day of the stay, a discount of 50% is applied.<\/span><\/p>

– \u20ac1. Hostels, campsites, guesthouses, inns, retreats and lodges.<\/span><\/p>

– \u20ac2. Hotels and tourist apartments with one to three stars or keys. Also holiday homes, rural accommodation and tourist cruise ships.<\/span><\/p>

– \u20ac3. Three-star superior and four-star hotels and apartment hotels. Tourist apartments with 3 keys or more.<\/span><\/p>

– \u20ac4. Applies to tourist apartments with four or more keys, as well as hotels and apartment hotels with four stars or more.<\/span><\/p>
